So what the heck is Web 2.0?

Shakespeare using laptop. If you are like me, you’ve seen the term used all over the internet and wondered just what it meant.  I’ve done a lot of reading and even watched a few videos on Youtube from a few industry experts trying to explain what Web 2.0 is.

Putting it simply, it’s a more interactive internet experience, specifically referring to social media environments.  We see cleaner, faster and more efficient interfaces than we have before.  It can also refer to specific styles when relating to websites and other internet based content.  The Web 2.0 style represents a cleaner, bolder and somewhat more polished appearance to many web elements and graphics.  The majority of sites I’ve seen that reflect this offer a larger viewing area, larger print, (good news for those of us with not so good eyesight) futuristic graphics and stunning images.  But first and foremost with this new movement, is content, good informative, useful content.  If you want to grab someone’s attention while visiting your site, a nice graphic is good, but your content is what will make them linger a little longer and even keep them coming back.   Gone is the day of the busy, poorly organized web site that serves only to frustrate the viewer.  If your site is not sporting Web 2.0ish style, you might want to think seriously about updating it,  I am sure your competition has.
